Marva Maid, a US-based farmer-owned dairy co-operative, has introduced carton packaging for its milk.
The dairy co-operative is bringing back the classic carton packaging, which was patented in 1915, with a new technological twist as cartons mean better milk and a cleaner environment.
Marva Maid general manager Danny Lovell said that the cartons feature Tru-Taste barrier board that keeps oxygen out and incorporates taste and vitamins, thus keeping the milk fresher for longer time.
"First and foremost it's about what we are always focused on, freshness," Lovell said.
Marva Maid cartons are made from renewable materials; with more than 70% of the carton material sourced from responsibly managed forests.
Marva Maid processes about three million gallons of milk per month and distributes dairy products in communities throughout Coastal Virginia, Richmond, Roanoke, the Shenandoah Valley, Northern Virginia, West Virginia and Eastern North Carolina.
