Multiform-Line for Muffins: In Great Shape
The complete unit of 6 wells is filled automatically with raw dough, packaged in tube bags, cooled and is available to the end consumer in the retailer’s refrigerated section.
23/01/08 Using deep-drawn carton and corrugated board, the Multiform-Line offers considerable design possibilities for trays and inserts. The Swiss company Jowa (bakers for Migros) have taken advantage of these positive material properties and they portion fresh dough for muffins in Multiform-trays for home-baking. This convenient unit with 6 wells will be available from retailers as of Autumn 2007.
The basis for the deep-drawn muffin wells is a PBT-coated Trayforma carton which can be deep-drawn up to a depth of 75mm. The material is heat resistant for use in microwaves and ovens and offers numerous barrier properties against aroma, fat and grease, steam and moisture, liquids, heat resistance for oven and microwave oven.
In addition the material offers excellent separation properties when compared to conventional paper muffin forms. It prevents any sticking of the muffin to the form – the muffins can be removed crumb-free and without damage. At the same time the material keeps the raw dough in shape and does not soften during the 36 day shelf life period.
STI assembles the six muffin wells and the cardboard holder to single units before stacking them for supply to Jowa. The holder is made of virgin fibre material, is food safe and allows for efficient filling and processing in the baking factory. Depending on the customer’s requirements the wells and holder can also be printed for promotional purposes. The complete unit of 6 wells is filled automatically with raw dough, packaged in tube bags, cooled and is available to the end consumer in the retailer’s refrigerated section.
Muffins on demand!
The consumer has the choice of either taking muffin wells singly from the holder or baking the complete unit in an oven at 180oC. The oven-fresh muffins are easily released from the deep-drawn wells after baking.
