Oxygen is most detrimental to the shelf life of jerky. Oxygen can be trapped in the packaging when it is sealed—even vacuum packaging and gas flushing can leave oxygen behind. What’s more, packaging materials can have microscopic pores that allow oxygen to infiltrate the package, causing oxidative damage to color and flavors of the jerky and allowing for the growth of molds.
JerkyFresh oxygen absorbers irreversibly absorb oxygen inside sealed packaging to less than 0.01% and maintain this level, keeping the jerky fresh and extending its shelf life. JerkyFresh oxygen absorbers are manufactured using food grade materials in a CGMP compliant facility in the USA, thereby assuring you are using a quality product.
