- Sidel has introduced the Returnable PET — Still Water bottle for the still water market.
- The bottle, available in cylindrical and square shapes, features customizable designs and textured surfaces.
- The solution supports circularity through compatibility with existing PET recycling streams.

Sidel has introduced Returnable PET — Still Water, a reusable PET bottle designed for the still water market. The solution aims to reduce waste and promote circularity for beverage producers and retailers.
The solution is said to be an “industry-first”, helping beverage producers to access a returnable PET solution designed for uncarbonated water. This removes all the structural constraints associated with carbonation.
Sidel’s new bottle is created in cylindrical and distinctive square shapes, ranging from 0.5 L to 2 L capacities. It can be created with textured surfaces, enhancing the bottle’s tactile and visual appeal.
Jerome Neveu, Packaging and Mold product manager at Sidel, says: “Driven by increasing consumer expectations around reuse and the evolving regulatory environment, especially within the EU, Sidel has taken an important step in bottle design, offering still water producers unique and optimized, reusable solutions.”
Lightweight design
Sidel’s Returnable PET — Still Water is said to be 10% lighter than the lightest 1 L returnable carbonated water bottles currently used in the still water market. According to the company, the bottle is developed to withstand up to 25 washing cycles.
“With our new Returnable PET — Still Water, Sidel has introduced a returnable bottle that is truly purpose-built for still water, one of the largest bottled beverage markets. It delivers significant lightweighting opportunities, durable aesthetics, and customizable design options,” says Neveu.
The solution is compatible with existing PET recycling streams, allowing bottle-to-bottle circularity at the end of its service life. The new design is also compatible with Sidel’s EvoBLOW blow-molding range.
According to recent research, consumer familiarity with packaging elements plays a key role in shaping purchase intent. In light of this, Sidel’s new bottlers feature customizable designs, enabling brands to maintain their recognizable single-use bottle shapes while adopting a returnable packaging format.
Earlier this year, Sidel provided Britannia, an Indian F&B company, with its first aseptic PET bottles for its Winkin’ Cow dairy drink portfolio.
