Xindeco RFID expansion targets hard-to-tag beauty and accessory products
Key takeaways
- Xindeco IoT has expanded its VersaTrack RFID tag portfolio with Gen2X-enabled VersaMax and VersaNano tags.
- The retailer Miniso has deployed Xindeco’s VersaMini RFID tags across compact merchandise categories, with the rollout now expanding into Europe.
- The companies say broader adoption of RAIN RFID technology can improve inventory accuracy and counting efficiency.

Xindeco IoT, an RFID tags manufacturer based in Xiamen, China, has expanded the VersaTrack tag family with Gen2X support and unveiled two additional tags, namely VersaMax and VersaNano. The ultra-small tags are designed to extend inventory visibility into previously untaggable product categories.
Recently, Xindeco IoT partnered with Impinj, a manufacturer of RFID devices and software, to support the inventory management for international retailers at Miniso. Miniso deployed Xindeco’s VersaMini RFID tags across cosmetics, accessories, and other compact merchandise, with expansion now moving into Europe.
Leo Ren, general manager of R&D at Xindeco, tells Packaging Insights: “Products such as cosmetics, jewelry, health and beauty items, and accessories used to be difficult to tag because of their smaller sizes, packaging challenges, and use of liquid and/or metal materials.”

“Xindeco’s VersaTrack family is powered by Impinj M800 endpoint ICs with Gen2X support. By using Xindeco’s VersaTrack tags, Miniso is extending RFID to categories that have traditionally been difficult to tag. As Miniso expands these deployments globally, it demonstrates how retailers can bring item-level intelligence to a much larger portion of their inventory.”
Reducing manual labor
The next-generation ultra-small tags adopt RAIN RFID technology, which is said to be a passive, battery-free wireless solution that connects billions of everyday items to the internet.
Matt Branda, VP of Product and Solution Marketing at Impinj.Matt Branda, VP of Product and Solution Marketing at Impinj, tells us: “The proven value of RAIN-enabled item-level visibility is fully realized when retailers extend RAIN RFID to all of their products. This empowers teams to address restocking needs, reduce out-of-stocks or discounted overstocks, and ensure customers can easily find what they need when and where they need it.”
“Retailers benefit from the improvements in inventory counting efficiency. Individual item counting tasks that once required substantial manual effort can be completed much faster using RFID, allowing store associates to perform inventory checks more frequently and with greater accuracy, while consuming less time.”
Branda highlights that when retailers extend RAIN RFID, businesses can unlock new use cases beyond handheld inventory, including automated checkout, loss prevention, and dock door shipment verification.
“High-value autonomous reading solutions work best when every item moving in and out of a retail store is tagged. Extending RFID helps retailers achieve a more complete, real-time understanding of their inventory while reducing the labor and time traditionally required for less accurate manual inventory rounds,” he concludes.
