Sabert teams up with food-to-go expert for plant-based hot food boxes
Sabert Corporation Europe has partnered with food-to-go packaging designer and manufacturer Flexeserve to launch the PulpUltra range, a recyclable and film-sealable takeaway hot food box collection.
The solutions will be showcased at the ExCel tradeshow in London, UK, from 24 to 25 September. It will also feature Sabert’s new Hot & Tasty and Fastpac ranges.
Alex Noake, senior VP and managing director for Sabert Europe, says: “We are pioneering PulpUltra, an exclusive ‘no intentionally added PFAS’ food packaging solution.”
“Made from over 95% plant-based fibers and treated with a minimal barrier spray, the solution offers outstanding resistance to moisture and grease equivalent to laminated products but with less plastic, while remaining fully compliant with EU and UK regulations.”
The PulpUltra range is freezer-safe and able to keep fresh food fresh.
JP Felix, head of Culinary at Flexeserve, says: “Teaming up with Sabert to ensure hot food is packaged appropriately and makes the food look great is a perfect combination.”
“We look forward to showing Sabert’s packaging innovations filled with tasty hot takeaway treats in one of our unique hot-holding units at the event.”
Hot food collections
The Hot & Tasty food-to-go packaging range is the latest addition to Sabert’s paper collection. “It combines a stand-out ultra-modern design with great functional performance,” says Noake.
“The versatile multiproduct use range is the ideal presentation solution for classic takeaway foods such as fried chicken, burgers, and sides.”
The recyclable solution is nestable, offering shelf-space optimization. It is also chill-safe and suitable for hot filling. The range includes a clamshell burger box, chicken boxes in three sizes, a chip box, a noodle box, trays in two sizes, and a carry pack.
Sabert’s Fastpac solutions are microwavable, easy to store, and leak-resistant. The containers have 30% recycled PP content and 30% organically sourced minerals and talc.
According to Sabert, all its internal PP waste is reused to produce the Fastpac trays and lids.
Noake adds that the packaging developments follow Sabert’s recent acquisition of Colpac. “We are proud to share our stand, ranges, and expertise with Colpac as one united team.”
In August, Sabert Corporation Europe completed the acquisition of Colpac, a UK manufacturer of paperboard packaging for the foodservice industry.
