Schubert announces its largest construction project, prepares new 3D printer for Anuga FoodTec
21 Apr 2022 --- Schubert is constructing a €38 million (US$41.4 million) facility in the company’s largest building project to date. The packaging machine manufacturer’s new assembly hall with an office wing is expected to be completed by June 2023.
Environmental sustainability played a major role in planning the new building, highlights Ralf Schubert. “We want to produce and manufacture in an entirely CO2-neutral way by the end of 2023, so the building will be equipped with a sustainable energy concept,” he says.
After the geothermal energy already installed on the company premises became unapproved due to new regulations, the German manufacturer decided to use ice storage technology for heating and cooling.
A photovoltaic system with an output of roughly 400 kWp will also be installed on the roof of the new building. “The objective is for the new hall to be operated in a climate-neutral manner,” explains Schubert.
Construction work has begun on Schubert’s new modern building. Not far from the company’s administration building, another final assembly hall with an adjoining office wing is now being built – with a total area of over 12,000 SQM.
“The expansion will open up space for 300 employees,” says Peter Schubert, who, as assistant to his father Ralf Schubert, managing partner at the company, is also involved in the project’s technical organization and engineering and design.
In collaboration with the Fessel architects and several specialist planners, the requirements of a modern working environment will be implemented in both the assembly hall and the office wing. In practical terms, this means that the rooms will be adapted to the requirements of different work areas.
Schubert at Anuga FoodTec
Meanwhile, Schubert is preparing to showcase a new 3D printer for high-quality format and spare part printing at the upcoming Anuga FoodTec in Cologne, Germany (26-29 April). The Partbox uses Schubert Additive Solutions’ virtual web platform, enabling manufacturers to 3D print plastic parts in their production facilities.
The company will also present a lightline cartonpacker for packing grated cheese pouches into cartons on-site.
At Stand C071, Hall 7.1, Schubert will be showcasing its solutions to support the digital transformation. These solutions include the lightline cartonpacker, whereby the cartons are erected and filled with the pouches.
