- Solum and Competera have strengthened their collaboration to integrate AI-driven pricing intelligence with real-time ESL execution across European retail networks.
- Competera’s platform uses machine learning and advanced analytics to optimize pricing strategies, balancing competitiveness and value.
- The integration of Competera’s AI solutions with Solum’s Newton ESL infrastructure allows for automatic and consistent implementation of pricing recommendations in-store.

Solum, a spin-off from Samsung Electro-Mechanics, and Competera, an AI-driven pricing solution provider, have expanded their partnership to further connect AI-driven pricing intelligence with real-time electronic shelf label (ESL) execution across European retail networks.
The collaboration combines Competera’s solutions for enterprise retail with Solum’s Newton ESL platform, supporting retailers to align advanced price optimization with synchronized shelf-edge communication.
Daniel Lee, CEO at Solum Europe, says: “A connected retail ecosystem requires more than advanced analytics. It depends on infrastructure that can execute at scale.”
“The alignment of Competera’s AI-driven pricing solutions with our Newton ESL platform strengthens the commercial foundation needed to deploy intelligent pricing strategies seamlessly and at the enterprise level.”
Accelerate AI-driven pricing
Competera’s platform adopts machine learning and advanced analytics. The solution aims to enable retailers to balance competitiveness and value-based pricing, improve pricing accuracy, as well as boost sustainable revenue and margin performance across large assortments.
By integrating application programming interfaces with Solum’s Newton ESL infrastructure, powered by the high-speed, low-latency Newton Protocol, pricing recommendations can be implemented automatically and consistently in stores.
The announcement follows engagement at EuroShop 2026 in Düsseldorf, Germany (February 22–26). At the event, retailers were introduced to connecting pricing intelligence with live ESL execution.
Alex Halkin, CEO and co-founder at Competera, says: “Enterprise retailers are looking to combine advanced pricing intelligence with reliable in-store execution. Expanding our collaboration with Solum allows us to extend AI-driven pricing into the physical store environment, ensuring strategies are implemented consistently and at scale across European retail networks.”
Last year, US economists suggested that ESLs could offer benefits to low-income consumers and help reduce food waste. The technology could provide rapid markdowns to items nearing expiration, such as fresh produce or dairy.
