Sparck Technologies equips WebstaurantStore with CVP Impack auto-boxing machines
08 Dec 2023 --- Netherlands-based Sparck Technologies, a technology company specializing in fit-to-size automated packaging solutions, has announced that US-based restaurant supply company WebstaurantStore is purchasing three new Sparck’s CVP Impack auto-boxing solutions.
The machines will go live in July 2024 at WebstaurantStore’s new distribution facility in Tennessee, US. The recent installation is of “particular significance” as it is now the ninth CVP Impack in nine total states, implemented by the largest online restaurant supply store servicing industry professionals and consumers worldwide.
The CVP Impack is a fit-to-size auto-boxing machine that measures, constructs, tapes, weighs and labels up to 500 right-sized boxes per hour. Prior to partnering with Sparck, two of WebstarantStore’s manual packers were able to process approximately 64 units per hour.
With the CVP Impack machines, the same number of people can process approximately 400 per hour. This increase in efficiency has allowed WebstaurantStore to fulfill orders at a much faster rate, making the CVP Impack an integral part of its business growth, according to the company.
“WebstaurantStore has been a great partner of ours for several years, providing their customers with right-sized packaging, exceptional customer service and a better unboxing experience,” says Sean Webb, director of automated packaging solutions at Sparck Technologies.
“WebstaurantStore’s continued investment in our technology truly underscores the functionality, reliability and efficiency the CVP Impack brings to the order packing process. By increasing the use of automation within their facilities, WebstaurantStore is well-positioned to achieve operational, labor and transportation cost savings.”
Packaging diversity
Offering over 376,000 products, WebstaurantStore customers can order items ranging from restaurant furniture and commercial grills to cleaning supplies and condiments.
With each product varying in size and shape, the CVP Impack can package single- or multi-item orders of either hard or soft goods, allowing for flexibility and customization for fit-to-size boxes while eliminating or reducing the need for void-fill materials.
“Since our founding in 2004, we’ve opened distribution centers in nine states and are continuing to grow at a rapid pace — relying heavily on automation to scale with us,” says Jamie Yoder, vice president of operations at WebstaurantStore.
“The fact that we’re seven times more efficient compared to manually packing each individual order we receive is hard to beat. Installing our ninth CVP machine, we continue to partner with Sparck not only because of their innovative technology but the service and support we receive from their team are simply above the rest.”
