One of the largest companies in the Middle East has become Elopak’s first customer in Yemen. Yemen Dairy is considered somewhat of a pioneer through the use of advanced technology for dairy production, and since 1978 has been producing ranges of dairy and juice products fulfilling the needs of Yemeni culture and society.
In December 2013, Yemen Dairy lived up to its pioneering reputation and was the first to package its products in Elopak cartons with the launch of its Laban and drinking yoghurt products in 250ml and 330ml Pure-Pak® Diamond cartons with Curve. The products include Hakool Laban drinks and Hageen active Laban, plus the Tehama drinking yoghurt range in strawberry, mango and peach flavours.
“Yemen Dairy is known for being a leader in innovative thinking and innovative products and therefore looked for a packaging partner to contribute to this reputation,” says Ahmed Essam, Sales, Marketing and Technical Director, Elopak Obeikan – Elopak’s partner in the Middle East. “Elopak provided a competitive package that met all the needs of Yemen Dairy and has resulted in our first ever customer in this market which was a key objective.”
Elopak installed a new filling machine S-PM80 for Yemen Dairy and is supplying 10 million blanks. The products, Laban and drinking yoghurts meet Yemen Dairy’s mission to provide healthy products of only the highest quality. With ten sites in Yemen, the company has nationwide distribution reaching all segments of Yemeni society.
“Elopak’s global reach gave Yemen Dairy a mix of domestic and international expertise, demonstrating an understanding of their needs now and in the future,” concludes Ahmed Essam. “Response from the consumer to the new packages has been very positive and we look forward to working with Yemen Dairy to support their growth and development as a leading company.”
