Amcor Flexibles' EFTA Success
Amcor Flexibles Venus of Ilkeston, Derbyshire has won two Silver awards in the European Flexographic Technical Association (EFTA) Print Awards 2006.
05/05/06 Both EFTA awards, which recognise printing excellence, were received in the Flexible Packaging Medium Web Line/Screen Combined category.
The first award was for an 8-colour reverse flexo printed design for Birds Eye SteamFresh Vegetables. Utilising digital technology and plates combined with the latest inks for reverse print lamination, the design for frozen vegetables was printed on a laminate of 12 micron polyester and 50 micron polyethylene, using a W&H Astraflex press.
Amcor Flexibles Venus received its second award for a colourful and attractive range of Rachael Hale Tissues. This design of 6 different images of cats and dogs was reverse flexo printed 6 colours on 40 micron polyethylene. The 6 images were printed 2 across the web, also on a W&H Astraflex press, and all 12 images were printed cleanly and in perfect register. Plates were stepped with cat images across the first two lanes and dogs across the next two – this ensured the print remained consistant across the web. Sharp text was also achieved.
This success brings the total number of EFTA awards won by Amcor Flexibles Venus to 45 in the last 8 years.
