Berlin Packaging discusses patented luxury glass and cosmetics ranges after London Packaging Week
10 Oct 2023 --- Following London Packaging Week 2023, we speak to a Berlin Packaging representative about the company’s reflections, successes and planned innovations since the show.
Berlin Packaging is one of the world’s largest hybrid packaging suppliers, specializing in glass, plastic and metal packaging and closure supplies. At the event, it participated with subsidiaries Berlin Packaging Spirits and Premi Industries.
“Berlin Packaging Spirits offered a glimpse of our value proposition in spirits packaging and the advanced services we offer spirits brands. We were thrilled to showcase an essential display of our patented bottle designs with a special focus on packaging solutions for gin and whisky to all the booth visitors involved in the spirits industry value chain,” says the spokesperson.
Luxury glass packaging items, particularly for spirits, were a central theme at the event, with many companies discussing the shift away from plastics and the benefits of luxury designs that can be infinitely recycled.
Also at the show were a range of cosmetics packages. Berlin Packaging | Premi Industries presented itself as “a 360°” partner that meets customer needs with consistently cutting-edge proposals for the beauty industry.
“We specialize in packaging solutions for skin care, makeup, personal fragrance and home fragrance products,” the representative tells us.
The spokesperson says its approach toward sustainable packaging is based on its C.O.R.E. strategy: Circularity, Optimization, Reuse & Refill and Environmental services.
“By advancing innovation in these key areas, we develop industry-leading sustainable packaging solutions for our customers,” they say.
“At London Packaging Week, we showcased our Helium Mixology spirits bottle, created with sustainability in mind by the designers of our Studio One Eleven. It is developed in lightweight and half flint glass (up to 75% recycled glass), achieving a substantial reduction of carbon emissions without compromising the glass quality.”
“The reduced emissions have been compensated in collaboration with Climate Partner, and the consumer can scan a QR code on the packaging to verify the compensation program. The end result is a new, versatile and customizable solution for spirits brands that want to use a sustainable packaging solution for their product.”
Refillable beauty designs
New products for the beauty industry were also presented at the trade show.
“Our new skin care products, Airglass Refill & Go and Airglass Slim Refill & Go, combine the safety of an airless solution with the sustainability of a refill. Moreover, we enhanced the Makeup in Glass collection with iconic glass bottles with a squared shape and round accessories for an attractive, playful and immediately recognizable design,” the spokesperson explains.
For the “extra-premium” packaging segment, Berlin Packaging | Premi Industries offers the look of the Double Glass collection: a tubular glass ampoule seemingly suspended inside a larger glass bottle that protects it from the outside while showcasing and enhancing the textures of the beauty formulas.
Like the other collections, Double Glass is also designed for sustainability and reuse of packaging: once the product is finished, the ampoule can be easily replaced, with up to 25 refills.
Future trends and launches
The Berlin Packaging spokesperson says the “packaging industry is characterized by a constant change: focus on sustainability and design are the two parameters around which the main innovations evolve.”
“We have been focusing on these two aspects a lot, and these are going to be even more important in the future,” they say.
“Thanks to our advisory, creative and innovation unit, Studio One Eleven, we have the capabilities to develop even more innovative products to help our customers achieve utmost success.”
Last week at Luxe Pack 2023, Monaco, Berlin Packaging organized a round table discussion titled “Shaping the future of sustainable packaging,” in which key industry stakeholders debated environmental sustainability in packaging.
The company invited Quantis, an environmental consulting company, and partners Rituals, Argotier and Tapì Group to discuss the future of emerging consumer trends, changing regulations and the role of eco-design and collaboration.
