Bormioli Pharma launches “Plastics Academy” to train new generation of processing technicians
15 Sep 2023 --- Pharmaceutical packaging giant Bormioli Pharma is launching the “Plastic Academy” next month, a training project designed to educate young students to become professional plastics processing technicians.
The training course will be held at the Castelguelfo plant, near Parma, Italy, and will last a total of three weeks. The program is designed in collaboration with Synergie Italia, a leading French multinational in the human resources sector and the fifth-largest employment agency in Europe, with over 700 branches worldwide.
“As a specialized manufacturing company, we feel the need to bridge the gap between the world of education and the world of work by offering a highly professionalizing pathway that can transfer high skills and knowledge of plastics production processes,” says Debora Grieco, HR manager of the Bormioli Pharma Group’s Plastics Division.
“To do this, we wanted to combine lessons with practical learning, involving internal tutors and external specialist teachers.”
The training will cover central topics that are necessary to obtain the skills required for plastic processing and range from the basics of raw materials and mold design to the various plastics processing technologies and product qualities.
The project's real aim is to provide participants with a technical basis and a possibility of joining the Bormioli Pharma Group. On completing the Plastic Academy, the most deserving students will be offered a work contract to join the company in technical roles.
“Synergie has always been committed to offering innovative, high-level recruitment and selection solutions, with the aim of building long-lasting relationships of trust and collaboration,” comments Giuseppe Garesio, CEO. Synergie Italia.
“In this context, academies represent a unique opportunity that allows candidates to experience company activities and processes at firsthand, and companies to enhance the skills and aptitudes of candidates in a targeted pathway.”
“Greener” drug therapy
The launch of Bormioli’s Plastics Academy follows a series of releases this year by which the company is aiming to improve the environmental sustainability benefits of its pharmaceutical packaging.
In January, the company unveiled a nebulizer for ophthalmic drugs, OptiMist, which administers therapies, minimizes waste and makes delivery more accessible and controllable through an app installed on smartphones.
The prototype was conceived from an open innovation process aimed at intercepting and addressing emerging patients’ needs.
At Pharmapack Europe in Paris, France, Bormioli also showcased an Internet of Things, smart-controlled MediClicker allowing easy pill dosing and a traceability, multi-technology solution dubbed Trax capable of storing information along the supply chain and readable both by industrial systems and consumer devices.
