Herma has collaborated with a US grocery store chain to enhance efficiency and accuracy of its clamshell salad packaging lines. The partnership centers on the integration of Herma’s 752C Wrap Labeler and 652C Top & Bottom Labeler into the retailer’s clamshell salad packaging lines.
The two solutions aim to meet the speed and precision demands of modern food production environments. The grocery chain has expanded its investment following the trial and initial installation, with over two dozen Herma systems now fully integrated across multiple production facilities.
Gavin Purvis, director of sales and marketing at Herma US, says: “Food labeling is about more than just presentation, it’s about consistency, reliability, and operational speed. Our 752C and 652C models are built to meet the demands of high-volume food producers, and we are thrilled to support a major grocery chain in delivering fresh, clearly labeled salad products to stores nationwide.”
The Herma 752C Wrap Labeler can be applied to full or partial wrap-around labels to cylindrical or rounded containers. The Herma 652C Top & Bottom Labeler can provide synchronized precision for clamshell packs, applying labels on the top and bottom surfaces in a single pass.
The company says the systems include user-friendly touchscreen interfaces and “robust machine construction.” They also allow tool-free adjustments for fast changeovers between product formats.
Herma will showcase its labeling solutions for improved production and regulatory compliance at PackExpo 2025 in Las Vegas, US, September 29–October 1. The company will present its 211R HC robotic labeling cell solutions.
The food packaging industry continues to advance labeling technologies. Last year, UPM Raflatac expanded its direct thermal linerless label portfolio with the launch of OptiCut WashOff, a solution designed for returnable and reusable plastic food containers. It is said to offer washability and can be separated from containers without leaving adhesive residue.
Mondi accelerated its liner production circularity at the company’s plants in Germany and the Netherlands. It also kicked off a partnership with Veyzle, a Dutch paper and plastics recycler, and Wepa Group, a hygiene papers recycler, to reduce siliconized and coated paper waste.
