Multivac announces Indian production site for shorter deliveries in South Asia
21 Feb 2022 --- Multivac is establishing a production site in India in a €6.8 million (US$7.7 million) investment, with completion planned for December 2022. The site will feature thermoforming packaging machines and traysealers, and dies and format set manufacturing, covering around 5,000 SQM. A separate hall area is envisaged for stocking spare parts and consumable materials.
The state-of-the-art building complex for sales and production is located in Ghiloth, 120 km from Delhi, covering approximately 10,000 SQM of usable space in the RIICO Industrial Area. The packaging solutions company aims to provide optimal customer service through regional proximity and shorter delivery times.
“We are building up not only local production capacity but also developing this site as a hub for the South Asia region,” says Guido Spix, the company’s joint group president.
“The key to our success is an intelligent infrastructure, modern manufacturing facilities, and a high level of expertise in packaging and processing combined with outstanding quality,” adds Christian Traumann, Multivac’s other joint group president.
On February 2, the first celebratory spadeful of earth for the new building was turned, with Laraon Group and Multivac representatives in attendance.
Internationalization strategy
Multivac has been represented in India by a subsidiary for more than a decade. It indicates the joint venture with Laraon Group in 2009 was an important milestone for its internationalization strategy and new market development in South Asia.
The new Indian sales company will have its own showroom and Training & Application Center for packaging and bakery machines at the Ghiloth site.
The company has a further 13 production sites in Germany, Austria, Spain, Brazil, Bulgaria, China, Japan and the US, and more than 80 sales and service companies worldwide.
Multivac recently acquired TVI holdings and extended its traysealer range with digitally-enhanced large tray options.
