Speed and flexibility
BRADMAN-Lake has added the SL6000 automatic indexing end-loader to its range of cartoning machines, which is claimed to bring unprecedented levels of speed and flexibility to intermittent cartoning . Key to this is the replacement of complicated stop/start mechanisms with computer-controlled synchronised servo motors - reducing the stresses and inertia of traditional indexing and adding flexibility.
Because servo power provides rapid acceleration and deceleration, this can be combined with longer dwell time for product pockets; allowing for collations to be assembled and the machine to consistently pack delicate or difficult products with rapid, electronically repeatable size changes. It is also possible to index two pockets at a time for simultaneous loading. Operating at speeds up to 100 cartons/minute, the machine's carton feeder, flap tucker, product inserter, flight chains, product infeed and transfer conveyor are all powered by servo-motors. It is available in various pitch versions and is capable of handling carton sizes from 50x19x114mm to 305x100x330mm.
