Amcor has equipped Barra Mansa Alimentos, a Brazilian meat processor, with three Moda rotary vacuum chamber sealing machines, highlighting the flexible packaging giant’s expansion in Latin America.
For its new deboning line, Barra Mansa & Oranges Alimentos required a solution that streamlined operations from product to pack. The installation of three Amcor Moda Vac rotary vacuum chamber sealing systems replaced up to nine belt chamber machines. It was installed alongside packaging materials, equipment, and technical service.
Marcelo Queiroz, vice president and general manager for Amcor in Brazil, says: “This project demonstrates how our integrated approach — combining materials, equipment, and technical expertise — helps customers improve productivity, consistency, and long-term competitiveness.”

“Brazil is a strategic growth market for Amcor, and initiatives like this reflect the progress we are making to expand our capabilities, invest in innovation, and work more closely with customers to support their long-term growth.”
According to Amcor, since its installation, the product lines have increased capacity and operational consistency.
Felipe Oranges, operations director for Barra Mansa & Oranges Alimentos, says: “The implementation of Moda Vac technology has significantly improved our productivity and vacuum performance.”
“The system’s stability, versatility, and ease of integration into our production flow were decisive in our decision.”
Protein packaging is undergoing a material, design, and barrier transformation as the industry aims to strike a balance between affordability, shelf life, sustainability, and consumer convenience.
Amcor’s market expansion
The international flexible packager manufacturer continues to innovate in established and anticipated markets. Previously, Amcor created the “first PET bottles for pasteurized beer in Brazil” for New Age’s Salzburg craft beer brand.
Earlier this month, Amcor boosted its healthcare packaging production capacity with a multi-million-dollar investment in its Sira, Karnataka, India, facility. It also announced a US$35 million investment to open a healthcare packaging coating facility in Subang Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia.
In addition, in collaboration with French cheese brand Laïta, it recently launched new packaging for Paysan Breton Emmental cheese blocks, using Amcor’s AmPrima PP film in the Easy Pack format with an adhesive tape for re-closability.
In further regional developments, Amcor’s Asia Pacific Innovation Center laboratory received accreditation from the China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment.
The accreditation indicates that a laboratory meets globally recognized requirements for technical competence and quality management. It is usually granted following an 18-to-24-month evaluation process.
