Key takeaways
- Lecta is launching a new EraCup range at Interpack 2026, compliant with the EU’s Single-Use Plastics Directive.
- The portfolio also includes flexible barrier papers like Metalvac Seal and solutions for wet-glue labeling.
- On-stand sessions will explore paper cup innovation and high-barrier metalized papers.

Lecta is set to unveil a new generation of EraCup paper cups at Interpack 2026 in Düsseldorf, Germany (May 7–13), alongside its portfolio of paper-based barrier solutions. The range includes solutions for rigid and flexible F&B packaging and wet-glue labeling applications.
The solutions aim to demonstrate how paper barriers are evolving to meet technical requirements, product protection, processability, and circularity, which are “key priorities for brand owners, converters, and packaging specialists.”
In addition to displaying its paper barrier portfolio, Lecta will also have technical presentations and on-stand sessions focusing on paper cup developments and high-barrier metalized papers.
“These sessions will offer practical insights into real converting applications and promote direct exchange with brand owners, converters, and industry professionals, reinforcing a collaborative approach to innovation,” says the company.
Paper-based portfolio
At the event, Lecta will launch its latest iteration of EraCup, a paper-based solution that is Single-Use Plastics Directive compliant and not chemically modified. It is engineered for industrial runnability and combines “advanced functionality with environmental responsibility.”
Lecta’s flexible packaging barrier papers include the Metalvac Seal Oxygen Barrier, a metalized paper offering oxygen and water vapor barrier properties, as well as resistance to grease. It aims to provide a more sustainable alternative to conventional multi-material structures.
For wet-glue labeling applications, Lecta’s range includes one-sided coated and metalized specialty papers. Under the theme “Performance for Every Market. Impact on Every Shelf,” these solutions are suitable for F&B and home care applications. They aim to “combine technical reliability with strong visual impact at the point of sale.”
In other paper-based developments, Tetra Pak recently partnered with Italian dairy company Sterilgarda Alimenti to unveil a paper-based barrier for its Tetra Brik Aseptic 1000 Edge, reportedly the “first ever” 1 L solution of its kind.
Meanwhile, Coveris launched the MonoFlexFibre Pure Twist, a paper alternative to plastic for twist-wrapped confectionery packaging, responding to the EU’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation.
