Tetra Pak is upgrading its Product Development Center (PDC) at its US and Canada headquarters in Denton, Texas. With the investment, the global food packaging and processing company aims to support F&B brands in creating, formulating, launching, and scaling innovative products.
“Innovation is key to our customers’ success and today’s groundbreaking represents our continued commitment to helping brands move faster from concept to consumer,” says Seth Teply, president and CEO at Tetra Pak US and Canada.
“This investment expands our ability to support customers as they navigate complex product development challenges to avoid costly pitfalls, gain efficiencies, and accelerate their path to market, all within a single expert-driven ecosystem.”
The focus of the PDC is collaboration and knowledge sharing, according to Tetra Pak. It offers a one-stop-shop model that integrates processing, packaging, formulation, testing, and scaling expertise to streamline development timelines and commercialize new products.
Customers can also evaluate the equipment needed to produce new and profitable products at the PDC.
Improved facilities
The expanded facility is scheduled to open in Q1 2027 and will include a Customer Innovation Center (CIC), said to provide an immersive experience to apply experimental methodologies for co-creation.
Julia Luscher, vice president of Marketing at Tetra Pak, says: “What we are building here is not just infrastructure. We are building capacity. We are building a partnership. And we are building the future of how innovation happens in our industry.”
The PDC and CIC upgrade includes:
- PDC space (12,000 square feet), one of 12 in the Tetra Pak global network.
- Full processing and packaging equipment lines for small batch production.
- CIC space (3,000 square feet), one of six in the Tetra Pak global network.
The spaces will include flexible meeting and co-creation areas designed to support “deep collaboration” with customers.
The facilities leverage Tetra Pak’s global network of experts, technologies, and testing capabilities.
Recently, Tetra Pak also upgraded its paper-based aseptic carton technology with a new pilot plant in Sweden.
