Florette France has relaunched its vegetable soups in Elopak’s 1 L Pure-Pak Sense cartons, replacing its previous PET bottle packaging.
“This new carton packaging allows us to enhance the visibility of the range in stores thanks to a larger on‑pack display area,” says Lionel Manivet, responsible innovation expert at Florette France.
“We work every day to minimize waste, so we have opted for the foldable Sense cartons, which offer practical advantages while helping to reduce food waste.”
The soup brand indicates that the switch to carton is part of its efforts to reduce plastic packaging usage and reduce its GHG emissions by 35% between 2019 and 2035.
Manivet adds: “Our teams are always looking for ways to improve packaging and make it more sustainable, while preserving the freshness of our fruits and vegetables.”
“Square packaging is easier to stack for transport and storage, so there’s less wasted space. That brings cost and fuel savings for our supply chain. Plus, the carton helps protect our vegetables from light, so product quality is protected.”
Soup brands seek carton
Florette France has adopted the new soup packaging nationwide across the country for its Garden Vegetables Soup, Six Vegetables Soup, Red Kuri Squash & Emmental Soup, Green Vegetable Soup, and Pumpkin & Carrot Soup.
Recently, Elopak introduced low-carbon aluminum for its liquid packaging cartons produced at its plants in the Netherlands, Denmark, and Ukraine to lower its carbon footprint.
It also supplied Orkla Home & Personal Care with its D-Pak refill cartons for its Klar laundry products across the Nordics and for Jif-branded all-purpose cleaner in Norway.
In an interview with Packaging Insights, SIG and Innova Market Insights highlighted a rising consumer demand for convenient, shelf-stable, and environmentally resilient soup packaging, resulting in soup brands increasingly seeking paper-based aseptic solutions.
Tetra Pak’s food carton segment, Tetra Recart, told us that carton-based F&B packaging plays an important role in prolonging shelf life, maintaining nutritional value, and preventing food waste.
